#WeCantBreathe:

A Town Hall for the Graduate Center Community on Police Brutality and Murder

Thurs 12/11 from 3:30-6PM in the GC Cafeteria

The Mentoring Future Faculty of Color Project invites you to the #WeCantBreathe Town Hall in the GC cafeteria on Thursday, Dec. 11, 2014 from 3:30-6PM. We envision this as a space to talk and rage and not heal, but perhaps hurt, together. We welcome the community to bring concerns and ideas for collective discussion. There is an open agenda for this meeting, which you can add to here.

We’ll also be making posters in preparation for the Millions March on Saturday, Dec. 13. Please BYO art supplies if you can, but we will have some there too.

We will also be holding an informal, pedagogy-focused group discussion on Friday, Dec. 19. Time & place TBA.

Mentoring Future Faculty of Color is an initiative developed by current graduate students of color and allies in various programs at the Graduate Center in recognition of the historic and ongoing impact of institutional racism. The goals of MFFC are multifaceted and include diversification of the student body and the academy more broadly; the illumination and address of institutional racism; and, especially, scholarly and professional mentorship to students in underrepresented communities at the Graduate Center and throughout the CUNY system and NY-metro area.
